Getting to Australia

Travel to Australia went extremely well, but that certainly does not mean it was easy.  We left Chicago at sunset and did not see daylight until we approached Sydney nearly 24 hours later.  We followed the darkness to Tokyo, landing at 8 pm.  We departed on the 9 hour flight to Sydney two hours later.

We flew ANA, a Japanese carrier and it was a great experience.  We were certainly the minority on the flights with most of the passengers being Japanese.

We got to Australia at 9 am and by 11 am, we had purchases a local plan for our cell phones, got Australian money and made our way into town by train.  After a quick lunch we started exploring.  Unfortunately, we got a little rain.  On very little sleep, we hit the Australian Museum.  It was an anthropological museum, which had a great display on the native people and animals.  We thought it was a good place to start learning about the continent.

Time for beer and pizza now.  Julie wants anything but Japanese food (which is all they served on the flights)

All the such children at museum in their uniforms
